WOW! What a unique combination of
learning and fun at the library!

Elaine McDuffie, Head of Youth and Family Services, Statesboro Regional Library System
 (From London to America program)

Thank you for such a memorable day – Just so you know, our front desk has received rave reviews from the parents and, as you know, that reflects the children’s feedback.  It was an unforgettable experience for the children.  You had them
mesmerized and enthralled from the start.
Lauren Jones, Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation Board
(Could You Be A World War II Kid?
One-Day Version
)

Annette took a roomful of young people, and through multi-media and hands-on experiences transported them back 70 years to wartime England. Everyone, including Moms, Dads and Grandparents, became involved -- they were having so much fun, they didn't know they were learning anything!
A
great Summer Program!
Dusty Gres, Director, Ohoopee Regional Library System
(Could You Be A World War II Kid? 90-Minute Version)

Imaginative Journeys takes non-boring history programs on the road in summer to public libraries, camps, and museums. We target kids aged 8-12, who are often underserved by programs aimed at the younger set, but kids as young as five have enjoyed participating in our short programs.
Our innovative and unique programs, led by professional historian and middle-grades author Dr. Annette Laing, offer excitement, inspiration, and substance without preachiness to your public library, camp or museum anywhere in the nation.

From London to America with Emily Oglethorpe

Meet Emily Oglethorpe, the, er, distant cousin of Georgia founder James Edward Oglethorpe, as you time-travel to London in 1735. Then join eccentric and slightly dimwitted Emily as you become a colonist, crossing the Atlantic to settle the new town of Frederica! This is colonial history as you have NEVER seen it before, with laughter, games, sound effects, and much more!  It's also an eye-opening look at what it was like to travel to America during the late colonial period. Although Emily herself is fictional, everything else in this program (including the kids' assumed identities) is based on actual historical accounts. Dr. Annette Laing plays Emily.

2-hour workshop (up to 60 kids, strongly recommend ages 8-12)

You'll work in a factory, enter a workhouse, and (in the whole-day program) try a career in domestic service. You'll almost be happy to enrol in a school....Unfortunately, it's a Victorian school. Oh, dear.
