about Annette Laing and Imaginative Journeys
Imaginative Journeys programs are created and led in person by Dr. Annette Laing, assisted by smart young people.

A British native who has lived in America longer than she cares to admit, Annette Laing was a tenured member of the history faculty at Georgia Southern University from 1996-2008, before resigning to devote her time to history for kids. She's the author of The Snipesville Chronicles novel series about three time-traveling children: Don't Know Where, Don't Know When (2007), A Different Day, A Different Destiny (2010), and Look Ahead, Look Back (2012), all published with Confusion Press.) Annette also gives performances and presentations in schools, as well as workshops, talks and day camps through Imaginative Journeys. Annette has created children's history programming since 2003, and her work has been profiled by the Associated Press.

Annette's scholarly interests lie in colonial America and the Atlantic World. Her best-known work is Heathens and Infidels, focusing on Africans and Christianity in the early South, which appears in the new edition of Major Problems in American Religious History.

Annette also holds a degree in journalism, and has a passion for theatre. When she isn't writing, creating history programs for kids, or performing, Annette likes to travel, read voraciously, cook Indian food, and spend time with her husband and son.
